I’d Say just  watch Initial D legends. It’s an abridged version of the first two seasons, with the newer, waaaay better art. The whole 4 part series is on YouTube, or at least it was.

Altho there’s something fascinating about watching the PS1 graphics animation in the races.

Watch the “Battle Stage” episodes for all the races back to back with sick awesome eurobeat. The abridged movies they made recently ditched the eurobeat and that’s just tragic. I do recommend watching seasons 4 and 5 due to a massive quality jump in all senses.

Weirdly - seasons 1 and 2 explained driving skills better and used fewer ass-pulls to get the main character the wins. But they are SLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW to move plots forward and the characters all took like 3 ambien before appearing on screen. Season 4 had a lot of good development for the RX-7 driver and Season 5 had a lot of really cool races as well as some fun plot points.

It’s the best car anime. Wangan Midnight is slower to develop,  believe it or not.

YES. I love this series. I even took an anime class in college (the joys of being a film major, haha) and did my big class presentation on Initial D. It’s a fun time.

The Funimation dubs are actually pretty good, but they’ve only done up through 4th stage. Better off just going subbed all the way through.
